'Member?: Now We're Really Sad We Didn't Get To Go To The Game

Whas Happened In Sports Last Night
- NFL: Yesterday’s Patriots Jets game had so many subplots—the Pats’ first game without Tom Brady; Brett Favre’s first game as a Jets’ starter at home; new New England QB Matt Cassel’s first start since high school. But for us, the subplot was John DeSio—Village Voice blogger, Jets season seat holder, friend to your editor and pictured in the circle—promising us opening day tickets before Brett Favre was signed, but then having to take them away when his family wanted to go post-signing. Bah. Now he gets to live in immortal CBS-cuts-to-commercial fame and we don’t. Jerk. New England 19, New York 10 [Boston.com]
- NFL: Is rookie Raiders running back Darren McFadden the new Adrian Peterson? The comparisons to last year’s Rookie of the Year and all around beast are coming fast and furious after “Run-DMC” took over in the Oakland backfield after an injury took out starter Justin Fargas. McFadden carried the team with 164 yards and a touchdown over their division rival Kansas City Chiefs. Oakland 23, Kansas City 8 [ESPN]
- MLS:The Dodgers have decided to pick the worst time in the regular season to waste an old man’s bid for a perfect game. Greg Maddux carried said game against the Rockies to the fifth inning when Garrett Atkins broke it up. The game stayed scoreless into the 10th inning until Troy Tulowitzki knocked home the winning run. The Dodgers’ magic number stayed at 11, and their lead over the Diamondbacks shrunk to four with 14 games remaining. Colorado 1, Los Angeles 0 [LA Times]
I’m not a homosexual (not that there would be anything wrong with that), but I think that John DeSio is one fine piece of man.

I would agree, I think.
