'Member?: This Is The Month Where The NFL Really Likes Latinos

Whas Happened In Sports Last Night

  • NFL: Oh, hey the NFL’s running those commercials during Monday Night Football where they remind everyone that they recognize the Latino fanbase and love them for their money… dedication. We mean dedication. It was maybe too much, though, to have half-Mejicano Tony Romo lead the Dallas Cowboys over the Philadelphia Eagles to prove said point. Bet dose guys in Philly are real mad at him, especially the ones who want you to order their greasy-ass cheesteaks in English. Cowboys 41, Eagles 37 [Dallas Morning Star]
  • MLB: Oh man, it can’t be happening to poor Mets fans again…. can it? Last year, New York blew a 3.5-game lead over the last seventeen games. Now, with 12 games to play and their Philadelphia rivals hot on their heels, the Mets drop a game they should’ve won to the lowly Nationals. Odds are if the collapse happens again, manager Jerry Manuel won’t be afforded the time the team gave fired coach Willie Randolph—three months into next year. Nationals 7, Mets 2 [NY Post]
  • MLB: Pity the poor Astros. They’re playing home games against the Cubs in a stadium that’s actually closer to Chicago; their homes back in Houston are probably in disrepair, not to mention their family in disarray; and in the last two games, they were no hit by the Cubs over 16 innings when Ted Lilly carried a no-hitter into the seventh yesterday until Mark Loretta saved the day. Hey, at least they’re only 2.5 games out of the wild card race in the NL. That’s something to work on… right? Cubs 6, Astros 1 [ESPN]
