Ah the days of sports gossip consisting of Cristiano Ronaldo and Nereida Gallardo. That nudie-boobie-touting vixen will always hold a special day in our hearts. Especially since we gushed over her the day C-Ron dropped her like a bad habit. But today Nereida confronts her fears and sorrows by selling her story about how Ronaldo actually dumped her. Text message, anyone?

I was upset by the way he finished the relationship, which to me seems 100 per cent cowardly,’ she says. ‘He is very immature.’

And she reckons the reason for their sudden split was down to his mum Dolores.

‘There were some problems with his family as they were a little jealous,’ she tells a Spanish TV show.

The family of the greatest footballer today, and undoubtedly one of the richest, would hardly be jealous. Someone is giving herself too much credit.

‘He’s very manipulated by his mother and she was always very protective towards him, which is normal. But she never called me to try to sort things out.

‘I was faithful throughout our relationship but I’m not sure about him. I found text messages in Spanish one day on his mobile phone that made me suspicious.’

This is when we cross our fingers and hope Nereida tries to get him back for the sake of news. That and we miss her.
