While most athlete blogs are full of excitement and intrigue about their gigantic pools or hot new ride (automotive or otherwise), Rafael Nadal’s blog during the US Open has opened our eyes into his days. And boy… are they not exciting—just like ours! Oh no, his team lost! He likes finger foods! He got caught in a New York City parade walking down the wrong street! Ooh, actually he could’ve gotten really screwed doing that. Last time that happened to us, we got hosed with beer-filled Super Soakers at the Puerto Rican day parade.
Maybe I shouldn’t have gone to see the match since Real Madrid lost. First match of the league and they lost. Too bad. We also watched a bit of golf. We actually had two TV screens and could see both. We had lunch there and a lot of people ask me what do I eat? I had chicken tenders with some fries to eat and water to drink. They are pretty good where I went.
On our way back we found out there was a huge Brazilian party on the streets!!! It was Brazil’s day and I have to say that walking it was quite amazing to see all those people with yellow shirts and dancing every where. Pretty cool. New York is really special, and this is one of the things of it. So international. We didn’t go in the 6th avenue where the party was taking place but all the surroundings were full of people from everywhere.
Good idea. It’s a bad idea partying with Brazilians if you’ve got actual things to do like play at the US Open. One moment you’re drinking on Sixth Avenue in Manhattan, the next thing you know, it’s Thursday and you’re knee deep in shaking butts and Brahmas in Boston.
