Robinho Asks For Brazilian Respect From Chileans The Best Way He Knows How--Via Tagging

When Brazilian/Manchester City forward Robinho went to Chile to play the home country for a World Cup qualifier, he sensed a bit of a chill in the air. That’s because the Chileans weren’t falling over themselves singing the praises of the Samba nation as they are used to. And that’s for good reason—first, they’re Chileans, what do you expect? (Sorry, Ma) And second, the Yellow and Blue weren’t exactly world beaters coming into the match, unable to score in their previous three matches and losing to Venezuela in a friendly and Paraguay in a World Cup qualifier. So the Chileans decided to talk smack when they looked vulnerable… and they got beat 3-0. But that might have not been the biggest indignity—Robinho decided to write on the walls of their locker room “There must be respect for the best team in the world.” Hey, just be happy he didn’t end it “Chile 187” and cross it out.

“I was the one who wrote it,” he said. “Chile should have respected Brazil for our tradition, which I don’t need to talk about. They thought it would be easy.”
“We didn’t ask for anything more than respect. Maybe if they had played more defensively, they would have made it more difficult for us. But they tried to play us on equal terms and you saw the result.”

Yeah, but beating teams like Chile… and Venezuela and Paraguay…. should be natural. You’re Brazil. Last time Argentina left Chile, they didn’t only leave with a win, but part of Easter Island to go with the Falklands. That’s how you’re supposed to roll in South American soccer.

I thought Brazil and Argentina considered themselves “not South American.” Bastids.

Gangsters.

Real Madrid should probably look under the locker room benches to see if he left his mark there too.
