The Bengals' Chad Johnson Wants The Latino Vote, Is Officially "Ocho Cinco"

Sound the horns! Blare the trombones! Arranca el mariachi, guey! The Cincinnati Bengals’ Chad Johnson changed his name legally to Chad Ocho Cinco about a week ago, but the NFl, owners, management and all the people who are in charge of dotting the “i”s and crossing the “t”s have recognized the eccentric WR’s wish to be known, officially, as SeƱor Ocho Cinco.

The Cincinnati Bengals announced Thursday that they have begun “the process of listing the former Chad Johnson as Chad Ocho Cinco for all club business, per the legal change of his surname effected in Florida.
“The list of appropriate changes will include Ocho Cinco wearing his new surname on the back of his jersey for Sunday’s season opener at Baltimore.”

This totally makes up for Ricardo Valenzuela having to change his name to Ritchie Valens. We got one back, eses! So, why in the world did he do this anyway?

“It’s something I don’t think anyone has ever done before,” the Pro Bowl receiver told the Bengals’ Web site last week. “Have I ever had a reason for why I do what I do? I’m having fun.”

And because you’re secretly in love with Latinos everywhere. You don’t have to hide it anymore, Ocho Cinco. Just tell the world you want to eat lomo salteado, carne asada and ropa vieja for the rest of your life. It’s cool. We’ll accept you. We promise. We’re nice. Come on over, bud. The water is totally fine…and mixed with Tecate.

So, from this day forward, we nominate Chad Johnson Ocho Cinco to be an honorary Latino. Yay o nay?
