The Los Angeles Dodgers dropped their 76th game of the season yesterday to the San Diego Padres but it didn’t matter one bit. Around 2:30pm yesterday, the Arizona Diamonbacks had lost their 80th game of the season to the St. Louis Cardinals and were thus eliminated from any idea of October ballgames. It would have been nice to celebrate a playoff berth in Los Angeles with a win against Southern Cali rivals, but who cares when your team has only won one playoff game in 20 years and that win came via a heroic performance from a guy who was kicked off a Korean team earlier this year, senor Jose Lima. Anyway, the Dodgers did something last night that we’ve never seen in all the year of living in LA and attending Dodger games: they doused their fans with booze to celebrate.
