Prepare to die’ jibber jabber from WBA Welterweight champion Antonio Margarito. As the Tijuana native prepares to fight Sugar Shane Mosley sometime early next year (Top Rank Boxing says probably right before the Super Bowl), he’s calling out Oscar for not being true to his word about fighting the winner of the Margarito/Miguel Angel Cotto fight and just being untrue to his supposed Mexican fight upbringing. Man, it’s been a bad week for De La Hoya’s identity, hasn’t it?

“Quiero vengar a mi ídolo, Julio César Chávez”, comentó Margarito momentos después que el Comité de Imagen de Tijuana (CIT) develó su fotografía y la de otros 14 personajes destacados de la ciudad, en su ingreso al Paseo de la Fama.

Dijo que De la Hoya no cumplió su palabra, “él se dice mexicano, pero no cumplió como mexicano”, la promesa de que enfrentaría al ganador del combate que Margarito sostuvo contra el puertorriqueño Miguel Angel Cotto.

At this point we’re half-expecting the Mexican president, Felipe Calderón, to issue a decree doubting the Golden Boy’s Mexican roots, like Obama and his birth certificate. Is it too late for Oscar De La Hoya to gain any respect in the Mexican boxing world, or will he always be a little too guerito for their liking?
