Bulletin board material is nothing new in sports. Talking trash is the name of the game when you’re trying to get inside the head of your opponent. But Arsenal’s coach Arsne Wenger and star Cesc Fabregas went to the schoolyard with their taunts before tonight’s tilt in North London between them and Tottenham, who as you know, have been having a rough time of it this season. First Wenger, whose club was beaten by Tottenham the last time they met, but it was in the Carling Cup, so you know, it doesn’t count.

“It was just the Carling Cup. Everyone knows we treat that as an educational competition.”

Which is pretty cold, but true. However, the sharpest barb came from Fabregas, who decided to tell a lad mag just how impotent Spurs’ really are.

He told lads’ mag Loaded that Vic Akers’ all-conquering women’s side would give the White Hart Lane men a tough game. Fab said: “They would do really well. I’m sure they would get a point!”

As much as we’d like to think professionals like Tottenham would just have comments like this roll off their backs, it really wouldn’t surprise us if the whole team threw a shit fit when they heard this. With the way they’ve been acting on the field, we half-way expect Giovanni Dos Santos hugging Gomes for support while Darren Bent was in the corner of the locker room flicking the lights on and off.
