It’s been a pretty rough couple of months for Cristano Ronaldo. After a summer of speculation where he sauntered off to Sardinia with his now ex-girlfriend Nereida Gallardo as Manchester United and Real Madrid vied for his services, it seems that CR7 is pretty universally unliked. Carlos Tevez didn’t want him around, Colombian Soap Star Elisa Sanchez thought he was gay and Leo Messi thinks he shouldn’t win any best player awards even after his 48 goals led Man U to their double title last year. Now it seems that Real Madrid doesn’t miss him not heading over to Spain. Well, that’s just Michel Salgado’s reaction, but it seems pretty valid reasoning.
“It’s great news for us that Ronaldo has no interest in coming here. It means the end of all the speculation which has been a big distraction for us and prevented the club going out and signing other players who would have strengthened the squad in all positions, not just one.”
Yeah, it would be naive for us to say that his arrival would would make the Real Madrid locker room an awkward place to be. They’re all awkward when you’re dealing with athletes and their egos. But Salgado’s got it right on the money that they would probably be focusing their energy fielding questions about Cristiano than trying to catch Valencia on that top spot.
