Machogear: KODAK Zi6 Pocket Video Camera Packs A Lot Of Power In A Little Frame

Zi6_FL-BF_black02_250x200.jpg Everybody wants their YouTube moment, right? But until a few years ago, most digital video cameras were just too big to carry around with you everywhere you go. Think of all the unexpected groin punishment we’ve missed! These days, there are ample options for the amateur filmmaker when it comes to super-portable cameras, so nothing need be lost.

The latest entry to this field is the KODAK Zi6 Pocket Video Camera. Just one fairly major design flaw keeps this camera from being absolutely perfect.

Extremely easy to use, the KODAK Zi6 Pocket Video Camera is basically a high-end version of the Flip cameras high-schoolers love so much these days. However, the zoom here is much better, the options are numerous, and we’re shooting in HD. The videos you create with the Zi6 are downloaded into your machine as Quicktime files, making them easy to send to friends or upload to YouTube.

The price is right, too. Though it retails for a little more than the Flip at $179, the Flip does not record in HD. The Zi6 uses the same AA rechargeables that go into your other cameras, which means you already have plenty of backup power in your house. And, as a nice touch, the Zi6 comes with two batteries of its own and a mini-charger. Not a bad deal. Add an SD memory card and you’re goods to go for up to 32 GB.

The only problem with this camera is its built-in USB connector. It works fine, but it’s unlikely that the USB port on your laptop is level with it. That means gravity takes over, which could lead to a broken connector. It’s not a fatal flaw…just be careful. Highly recommended.

Available in black and pink, for the lady in you. Visit Kodak’s official website for more info.
