Whas Happened In Sports Last Night

  • MLB NLCS Game One: At the end of the fifth inning we were gushing to our girlfriend how great Rafael Furcal glove work was. Errrrrrrrrrrr. Furcal’s error in the sixth let the Phiilies put Carlos Ruiz on second and was followed up by a Chase Utley home run that was shortly followed up by a Pat Burrell homer. Those three runs were the difference and it’s all Rafael Furcal’s fault. Okay, not really, but still. Phillies 3, Dodgers 2 [Philly.com]
  • More news you may have missed while wondering how to get more Tina Fey in your week and then finding out there’s going to be aThursday Night Live… after the jump.

  • MLS: The Red Bulls and Real Salt Lake opened Rio Tinto Stadium, the seventh soccer-only arena built for teams in MLS, with a tie that left both teams wondering where they’ll be come playoff time. [UPI]
  • NBA Preseason: New Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni says that his new team is undisciplined and has horrible work habits. Yeah, good luck with trying to fix that with no new pieces and teams like Toronto ready to pounce. [NY Times]
  • NHL News: On honor of hockey moms all across the land, Sarah Palin is going to drop the ceremonial opening puck at this Saturday’s season opening Flyers game. Not to compare Philly with Detroit, but at Red Wing games they throw octopi onto the ice when they get a hat trick. May we suggest something Flyers fans can throw during Palin’s ice time?
