• MLB: Evan Longoria and the Tampa Bay Rays both had great debuts on the playoff stage. Longoria led the first time playoff Rays with two home runs that propelled them to the win. We know that made someone in LA happy this morning. Rays 6, White Sox 4 [NY Times]

• MLB: Carlos Zambrano is either on and awesome or he’s not. Last night in the second game of the Cubs/Dodgers, he was the latter as he gave up six runs (although four unearned) as the Dodgers (!) took a 2-0 lead in the series over Chicago. [LA Times]
• MLB: The Flyin’ Hawaiian Shane Victorino made the cool bell in Philadelphia’s park light up with an awsome grand slam off CC Sabathia’s, whose arm gave up around that time. Apparently it’s not a good idea to pitch a guy on three days rest four straight times. [Philly.com]
• MLB: John McCain has said he’s going to back his old friend Curt Schilling’s Boston Red Sox team to win the World Series. Sarah Palin said she’s just happy hockey season’s starting. [Boston.com]
