Whas Happened In Sports Last Night

  • MLB: It took them 12 innings, but the LA Angels stopped the bleeding against the Boston Red Sox last night. Erick Aybar hit a single in the top of that frame to knock in Mike Napoli in the nighttime Boston mist that we think King called in for effect. Or at least to throw off Jered Weaver. [LA Times]
  • MLB:The White Sox showed that at least one team in Chicago can whithstand some pressure. It staved off elimination by beating the Tampa Bay Rays to force a game four in the series later on today. [Chicago Sun-Times]
  • NFL: Apparently after getting their teeth kicked in the first game against the Giants, something got into the Washington Redskins. They’re now 4-1 after beating the Eagles on the road, a week after beating the Cowboys on the road. Are they the best team in the NFC East? [Washington Post]
  • NFL: That’s a big negativo, big buddy. That’s because the ‘08 Champion Giants are still undefeated after whooping up on Seattle in East Rutherford. Imageine if their best playmaker, Plaxico Burress, didn’t get fined and told to not dress today? [NY Daily News]
  • EPL: Tottenham loses… again. It’s the worst team start since women wore flapper hats, so maybe that’ll make a comeback, too. [Guardian UK]
  • La Liga: The battle of the masterful Argentines pitted Barcelona’s Leo Messi and Athletico’s Sergio Aguero yesterday. Um, at least Aguero didn’t poop his pants as Messi’s Barca team demolished Aguero’s side at Camp Nou. [The Canadian Press] Image [AP]
