New York Mets pitcher Ambiorix Burgos Says, "You Got Me, Coppers"

Well that took long enough. Mets pitcher Ambiorix Burgos decided to turn himself in to police in the Dominican Republic who’ve been looking for him since last week’s alleged hit and murder of two women in the Dominican Republic. But as new information leaks out, we get this new tidbit as to the motive behind him allegedly killing those women (yeah, we’re getting all Law And Order up in here). And it comes from one of their mothers, so you know it’s sensational and juicy.

The news comes after the mother of one of the two victims accused Burgos of intentionally running her daughter over because she refused to go out with him. Eudosia Ruane, mother of 29-year-old Angely Fana, told the AP she filed a report with police alleging homicide.
An arrest warrant had been issued for the 24-year-old reliever, who disappeared after the Sept. 30 accident that killed Fana and Josefina Minaya, 38. Burgos is accused of abandoning the victims and fleeing, charges that can carry six months to two years in prison.

So wait, if he did it because she didn’t want to go out with him, does that put him automatically on the hook for two years in prison. For killing two people. With premeditation? We’re sure he’ll get that much, unless the judge is a Mets fan, then he’ll add 10 years just for the ulcers caused by the last two seasons alone.

What are the odds the Mets can get the other healthy set up men in their bullpen into… well a bullpen? If they’re arrested and incarcerated for a long time, does that wipe them off the books?
