We’re not saying that Tottenham Spurs co-chairman Daniel Levy reads Machochip, but Juande Ramos was fired on Saturday, the day after we said the team had to. Sure, it’s akin to saying it’s a good idea to to put out the fire on the stove, but still. The move was made easier by their EPL foes Portsmouth letting their coach, Harry Redknapp, go for a measly £5 million compensation. Apparently the move worked with Spurs winning their first game of the EPL season yesterday against Bolton. This apparently is the kind of “winning” that Levy was looking for when he made the change according to his version of a Spurs fireside chat.

So can Redknapp lead Spurs out of relegation territory? One of the conditions that came with the hire was that the former Portsmouth coach would be in charge of the transfers, which had gone a little haywire over the offseason. He called Spurs good, but a bit soft in the middle and promised to make them solid. We think fans would just be happy to see them about of the last four spots of the league table.
