Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams has been good and clean for a while, but his once insatiable appetite for the chronic caused him to test positive in the NFL’s substance abuse program four times. He was even banished to the CFL for a year, a fate worse than death for any football star, let alone a Heisman Trophy winner and first-round draft pick. So did the time off from the NFL before this year dent his need for weed? Of course not! Williams admitted that he still has the urge to smoke up, and was tempted to do so during the Dolphins bye-week. Why? Idle hands! Idle… joint-and-Doritos-free hands.
“Most definitely,” Williams said. ‘It’s greater because, like, Thursday, coach told us we had Friday off, so automatically your mind, which is so constrained since training camp began — every day is a grind, it’s a grind, it’s a grind — and then Coach says `you’re free.’ And the mind says, `I’m free, what can I do?”
Well, if you put it that way Ricky, we really feel for you.We understand that professional atheletes need some release valve from their overly-aggressive weekly lives. Now if you’ll just turn on the black light as you head out, that’d be great, thanks.
