So remember last week when Dallas’ Terrell Owens started mouthing off as usual about his quarterback? This time it was Tony Romo (and not Donovan McNabb or Jeff Garcia), and the issue at hand was Owens’ belief that Romo and Cowboys’ tight end Jason Witten were scheming against him and calling plays that take him out of the game. Well, T.O. had a birthday party last night, and it looks like not only everyone from the Cowboy’s organization was there, but everyone in Dallas as well, including J.R. Ewing. Okay, well not everyone…
Romo, who is suffering from a back injury sustained against the Giants, was a no-show at press time, along with Witten, who is also nursing injuries.
“I think it’s important to show your support,” said [Head Coach Wade] Phillips, who was joined by his wife, Laurie. “They support you. And it’s a good cause as well.” [Shaun] Ellis said it was important to send the message that “we are one team. There are not any problems. We are not a team divided and we are sticking together.”
Check and mate, Mr. Owens, for making Romo and Witten look like jerks for not being “good teammates.” After kicking things off as the insufferable prick in the proceedings, you’ve won this battle. But who will win the war? No one if they don’t start acting like grown up and play the game to get the playoffs.
